“If Guskov Is 100% Ready, Ankalaev Will Have Problems” — Fedor Ryzhov on Former MMA Series Fighters Competing at UFC Abu Dhabi

MMA Series director Fedor Ryzhov has shared his thoughts on the upcoming appearances of former promotional fighters Bogdan Guskov, Valter Walker and Magomed Saidov at the UFC event in Abu Dhabi on July 25. Guskov will face Magomed Ankalaev, while Walker takes on Thomas Petersen and Saidov meets Dustin Jacoby. “Three former MMA Series fighters will compete on the same card at UFC Abu Dhabi,” Ryzhov said. “Walker’s fight was announced a long time ago, while Saidov and Guskov were added following changes to the card. “Petersen should be easy prey for the ‘heel-hook king.’ I don’t expect any surprises in that fight. “As for Jacoby versus Saidov, Magomed was most likely preparing for his PFL debut, which had already been announced. But he has ultimately signed with the UFC instead. “Jacoby may underestimate him because ‘Kubik’ does not have any major names on his résumé yet. But Magomed’s overall MMA game is strong enough for him to beat absolutely anyone. I think Jacoby’s fans could be in for an unpleasant surprise. “Bogdan is an exceptionally well-rounded fighter, but there is one important factor with him: He needs to know for himself that he is 100% ready. When he feels that way, he can beat anyone. “I don’t know whether he is fully prepared for Ankalaev, especially mentally. But if he is, Magomed will have problems. “Another intriguing element is that Guskov’s teammate, Magomed Saidov, has spent a lot of time training with Ankalaev. That can always become an issue because fighters who work closely together may learn each other’s weaknesses. “We will soon find out who is able to use that knowledge — and whether either side chooses to use it at all.”
