A bantamweight matchup between Umar Nurmagomedov and Song Yadong is being targeted for UFC Shanghai on Aug. 29, with the bout expected to serve as the Fight Night main event.
Nurmagomedov referenced the matchup on social media, citing Red Fury MMA.
The fight would mark Nurmagomedov’s first Octagon appearance since his unanimous decision win over Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 324 in January 2026. Nurmagomedov is 20-1 as a professional.
Song, one of China’s top UFC fighters, is also coming off a win over Figueiredo. He submitted the former UFC champion in the second round at UFC Fight Night 277 in May 2026.
Song holds a professional record of 23-9-1 with one no contest.
